UK Gov Says Microsoft/Activision Deal Could Harm Gamers

a red and blue sky is seen through the trees

The recent news of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard has been met with a great deal of controversy from the UK government. Specifically, the government is concerned that the deal could harm gamers by giving Microsoft an unfair advantage in the console market.

While it is certainly true that Microsoft would be in a better position to compete with Sony if it owned Activision Blizzard, it is important to keep in mind that the gaming market is already highly competitive. In addition, Activision Blizzard is just one of many publishers and developers in the gaming industry.

Given the fact that there are so many other publishers and developers out there, it is unlikely that Microsoft would be able to use its ownership of Activision Blizzard to significantly harm the gaming industry or gamers.
