Apple external display with ProMotion and mini-LED delayed again – 9to5Mac
It looks like Apple’s much-anticipated external display with ProMotion and mini-LED technology has been delayed yet again. According to a new report from DigiTimes, mass production of the display has been pushed back to the second or third quarter of 2021.
This is yet another setback for the company’s long-awaited display, which was first rumored back in 2017. Since then, we’ve seen a number of reports indicating that the display has been delayed due to various production issues.
The latest report from DigiTimes indicates that the primary reason for the latest delay is due to “challenges in mass production.” The report also notes that Apple is currently working with a number of suppliers to try and ramp up production.
It’s unclear exactly when Apple was planning to release the display, but it’s possible that it was targeting a launch sometime this year. With production now pushed back to the second or third quarter of 2021, it’s unlikely that we’ll see the display anytime soon.
This is obviously disappointing news for those who have been waiting for the display, but it’s not entirely surprising. Apple has a history of delays when it comes to new products and Technologies, so this latest delay is just par for the course.
As always, we’ll keep you updated on any new information relating to Apple’s external display as it becomes available.
