How to Unlock Your iPhone With a Security Key

There are a few different types of security keys, but the most common is the Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) key. These keys work with a wide variety of devices and services, including Google, Facebook, and Dropbox.
To use a security key with your iPhone or iPad, you’ll need an iPhone 6 or later with iOS 11 or later, or an iPad Pro with Face ID. You’ll also need an Apple ID that uses two-factor authentication.

Once you’ve got two-factor authentication set up, you’re ready to add a security key to your account. To do this, open the Settings app and tap “Accounts & Passwords.” Tap “Add a Security Key,” then follow the instructions on the screen.
You’ll be asked to plug in your security key and enter your PIN. Once you’ve done that, you’ll see a confirmation message letting you know that the key has been added to your account.
Now, whenever you login to your account, you’ll be prompted to enter your PIN and plug in your security key. This may seem like a hassle, but it’s a small price to pay for the added security.
