Samsung: Reports of new internal CPU development team are not true

As Samsung looks to asserted itself as a major competitor in the smartphone market, it has reportedly begun development on its own line of CPU cores that would be used in future devices. This move would put the company in direct competition with the likes of Apple and Qualcomm, who currently dominate the market.
While it remains to be seen whether Samsung will be able to successfully develop its own CPU cores, the company is said to have assembled a team of experienced engineers for the task. The team is said to be led by a former senior engineer from AMD, which could give Samsung the boost it needs to create a viable alternative to the existing offerings.
However, it is important to note that any such development is still likely years away from being completed. As such, Samsung will likely continue to use Qualcomm chips in its devices for the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, the company’s apparent commitment to this project indicates that it is serious about establishing itself as a premier player in the smartphone space.
