Smart speaker company Sonos has announced a new product, the Era 300, which it says is designed for “spatial audio.” The company made the announcement at an event in San Francisco on Wednesday, where it also unveiled a new version of its software, called Sonos S2.

The Sonos Era 300 is a small, cylindrical speaker that can be placed on a table or shelf. It has a built-in amplifier and four full-range drivers, two of which are tweeters. The speaker supports Dolby Atmos and Sonos’ own Trueplay tuning technology.

The speaker is designed to work with the company’s new software, which is a major update to the company’s existing platform. The new software will allow users to control all of their Sonos products from one app. It will also introduce a new feature called “Spatial Awareness,” which will use the company’s microphones to detect where a user is in a room and adjust the sound accordingly.

The Era 300 is the latest in a line of products that Sonos has designed for the home. The company’s previous products, such as the Play:1 and Play:5, have been designed for music listening. The Era 300, however, is designed for those who want to use their Sonos system for movies and TV as well.

The company says that the Era 300 is the first speaker in its line to support Dolby Atmos. The technology, which is typically found in high-end home theater systems, allows for sounds to move around a room, creating a more lifelike experience.

The Sonos Era 300 will be available in the second quarter of 2019 for $449.99.
