There has been much speculation surrounding Apple’s development of micro LED technology and when we might see it incorporated into its devices. A recent report has suggested that the company is aiming to launch an Apple Watch with a micro LED display by 2025.

Micro LED displays offer a number of advantages over traditional LCD and OLED displays, including higher brightness, smaller form factor, and lower power consumption. However, the technology is still in its early stages of development and mass production has yet to be achieved.

Apple is said to be working with Taiwan-based company PlayNitride on the development of micro LEDs for use in future devices. PlayNitride is one of the few companies in the world with the expertise and facilities to mass-produce micro LEDs.

If the report is accurate, we may see an Apple Watch with a micro LED display as early as 2025. It is unlikely that the technology will be ready for use in iPhones and iPads before 2027 or 2028.

Given the advantages of micro LED, it is easy to see why Apple is said to be eager to incorporate the technology into its devices. The company has a long history of being an early adopter of new display technologies, and micro LED could be the next big thing.
