ChatGPT briefly went offline after a bug revealed user chat histories

If you’re a fan of digital assistants, you were probably pretty excited when ChatGPT launched earlier this year. This service promised to be a more natural and efficient way to interact with your computer, using chat-based commands instead of traditional menu navigation.
Unfortunately, it looks like the chatbot revolution may have hit a snag. Last week, ChatGPT went offline for a brief period after a bug was discovered that allowed users to see other people’s chat histories.
While the issue has since been fixed, it’s a pretty embarrassing blunder for a service that is still in its infancy. And it’s not the only thing that ChatGPT has been getting wrong lately.
For example, the chatbot is hilariously bad at generating random numbers. Just try asking it to generate a random number between 1 and 10 and see what happens.
It’s also worth noting that ChatGPT is far from the only digital assistant out there. Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Microsoft Cortana are all pretty solid alternatives that don’t have nearly as many issues.
So, if you’re looking for a chatbot to help you with your computer tasks, you might want to give ChatGPT a pass for now. There are plenty of other options out there that are worth your time.
